The father of young girl targeted by an online predator posing as a Justin Bieber lookalike welcomed his 15 year jail sentence and said: “Now we can get on with our lives.”
Yohann Ramchelawon, 30, targeted victims aged between 12 and 17 in New Zealand, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Russia, as well as closer to home in Walsall and Coventry and other parts of the UK.
Rachel – not her real name – was among those tricked into thinking they were communicating with a young Bieber-lookalike in order to get girls to send intimate images.
Ramchelawon was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court today.
The court heard the Mauritian national used Instagram, WhatsApp, Skype and Facebook to target girls from across the world.
One of the victims was Rachel, who was just 12 when targeted.
Police released a harrowing audio interview she and her father gave after the sentencing.
The devastated dad said: “He was coming across as a little kid. When I realised what he actually was, I was disgusted – fuming.”
Her father admitted the ordeal had pushed the family to breaking point but said seeing him sentenced could finally allow them to move on.

Rachel was contacted through Facebook when the man posing as a young boy struck up a conversation with her.
The 12-year-old said she felt ‘disgusted’ with herself when the true identity of the person she had been messaging was revealed.
Ramchelawon, of Walls Street, Halifax, contacted the schoolgirl from an IP address linked to a house in Walsall.
The pervert’s deceitful actions impacted lives across the globe.
Rachel’s father told of the moment he found out his daughter has been targeted. He said: “We found the images on my daughter’s phone. At first we were angry but we couldn’t do anything else than explain what had happened (to the police).
“I’m absolutely disgusted by him. There’s not much else I can say to describe how I feel.
“It has been hard for me and my wife. We have argued and there has been stress with the different things going on. But we are struggling through.”
Rachel, from Manchester, said: “It was on Facebook. He just said ‘hi, I think I know you from somewhere’.
“I felt disgusted with myself really. I just want to get it all over and done with.”
Her father described the emotions that built up inside him as he set eyes on the predator for the first time.
Speaking ahead of the sentencing, he said: “I have been once before to court to face him. It was just anger and rage when I saw him.
“Hopefully this time it will be happiness because he will be getting what he deserves.”
